Astigmatism
Astigmatism creates streaky, blurred vision, and it used to be challenging to fit contacts for this common refractive error. Technology has evolved, and we now have better and more contact lens options to correct astigmatism.
If you have astigmatism and tried contacts years ago, but had to sacrifice comfort or clarity, try again. We study every new contact that is on the market and are confident there is an option for you.
Bifocal Contact Lenses
Are you tired of taking your readers on and off? Does your vision come in and out of focus when you work on the computer? Have you been told you are not a candidate for contacts because you need bifocals?
Bifocal contacts have undergone dramatic design improvements in the past few years and now allow you to read your phone, see your computer screen and drive comfortably without strain. With our experience and knowledge in bifocal contact lens technology, we can give you a vision correction option that doesn’t include glasses.
There are many safe and healthy contact lens options for children. Contact lenses provide a great alternative to glasses, which can fall off or break during a flip at gymnastics, a twirl during a dance routine, a header on the soccer field, or other physical activities your child may enjoy.
Our doctors often recommend daily, single-use lenses. These lenses are extra safe because they avoid infection-causing bacteria by eliminating contact solution and cases!
Corneal reshaping technology is also a great option proven to slow the progression of near-sightedness. Our eye doctors can design customized contact lenses that reshape the surface of the eye while your child sleeps. In the morning, vision is 20/20!
We have fit children as young as 5 years in contacts and do not have age limits at Wink. We will take great care to ensure you and your child are 100% confident in the insertion, removal and care of your contacts before you leave our vision centers in St. Louis Park or Chanhassen.

Ortho-Keratology
Have you or a family member ever wanted to see without contacts or glasses but aren’t able or willing to do Lasik? Does your child’s prescription seem to get stronger every time they visit the optometrist? Is there a strong family history of near-sightedness and you want to do something about it? You can!
Ortho-K is a non-invasive, non-surgical option that allows you to see during waking hours without contacts or glasses. Candidates sleep in a custom designed and oxygen-permeable contact lens that reshapes the surface of the eye overnight as they dream away. In the morning, the lens is removed and vision is 20/20 without a lens in front of the eye! The treatment is safe for all ages and can help to slow the progression of near-sightedness.
Ortho-K is an especially great option for patients with mild to moderate near-sightedness, swimmers and other athletes, children with rapidly changing prescriptions, and dry-eye or allergy sufferers who are unable to wear traditional contact lenses. In addition to soft contact lenses, our vision centers in St. Louis Park and Chanhassen also design gas permeable contacts. These lenses often provide superior vision over soft contacts, especially for those with severe or irregular astigmatism as well as those needing bifocals.
Gas Permeable Contact Lens
Ocular conditions such as keratoconus, corneal degenerations, and irregular astigmatism cause poor and distorted vision unless corrected with a contact lens. Wink has the latest diagnostic technologies to detect these diseases and improve vision with specialty lenses such as keratoconic soft contact lenses, hybrid, and scleral lenses.
